Brita Basic On Tap Faucet Water Filter System Review
Does your tap water have a funny smell or taste? Brita water filters have a great reputation for improving the taste of tap water. The best thing about the Brita faucet filters is that they don’t cost very much.
The design looks good but I personally prefer the chrome model. This model does come with a switch on the side that allows you to turn it for a wider or smaller water stream.
It also features little grip dots on the handle so that your fingers don’t slip off.
The unit mounts onto most faucets easily with the metal joint connects to the metal faucet providing a secure connection.
It features a spray setting you can use mainly for washing dishes which is a pretty cool feature that most faucet water filters don’t offer.
However, you are not able to have hot water flow out of the filter for some reason, which is pretty necessary if you are washing dishes.

The Brita Basic Gamble
There have been numerous complaints about the fittings for this unit not fitting properly on the faucet. The pieces that screw onto the faucet are not attached well and this is what makes leaks occur.
Many people report of the filter breaking in a couple months, as though it has a self destruct mechanism built into the filter.
The filter connection also has reports of it shearing off or breaking.
It is not well made and 50% of the time will break and start to leak and you will have to replace the entire unit. If you like to gamble then this is a great unit for you to try out!
What Do The Customers Have To Say?
The reviews are split 50/50 for 5 star and 1 star reviews. Many places have been known to get fake reviews to pump up there score of positive reviews.
I’m not saying this is the case for the Brtia Basic filter but many people have complained about how it leaks and many people say it’s amazing. Very confusing…
Some people have used it for 5 years without it breaking or leaking and others have it break and leak in 2 months.
If you want to gamble you could invest in two of these filters and it would still be less expensive than most high quality water faucet filters. If one of them breaks then use the other one and see if that one breaks too.
Otherwise take a look at the chrome version of the Brita which seems to be less prone to leaking.
My overall score for this faucet water filter is a 7.2 / 10, which is pretty low.
It does what it’s supposed to do by filtering the water and making it taste good but if the unit leaks then that’s not good. The design is nice and the filter replacements are pretty cheap.
