PUR FM-2000B Classic Vertical Water Filter Review

PUR FM-2000B Classic Vertical Water Filter
The PUR FM-2000B Classic comes in black and has an LED indicator light. The PUR filters are great and according to there website they remove 97% of Chlorine and 97% of lead removal.
Most people don’t have lead in there water so removing 97% of 1% should be all you need. If you want a filter that removes 99.99% of chlorine there are others out there.
The flavor of the water is great. The water flow is very slow on this unit and almost seems to drip out of the filter at times.
This product has been updated in 2017 to include a new PUR 3-Stage filters and better fittings to secure it to the faucet.
You can go on the PUR website and order the new adapters which prevent leaking.
Leaks have been one of the biggest problems with the PUR filter, and all faucet water filters for that matter.
Many people complain about the filter leaking after several months to a year.
It would seem that this filter is not much different. The filters are pretty inexpensive, so it is worth it to buy a new one every year.
Installation is simple and the box comes with easy to read instructions and a variety of adapters. Simply unscrew the adapter on your faucet spigot and screw the new adapter on as tight as you can.
It is metal, so you won’t be breaking it. Many of the other filters use plastic adapters which are prone to breakage or leaks.

What’s inside the New PUR 3-Stage Filter?
Let’s take a look at what this new and improved filter can do:
- Provides up to 100 gallons of crystal clean water
- Removes 99% of lead and microbial cysts, certified to reduce many other contaminants
- Reduces trace levels of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical reduction is not certified by NSF/ANSI or state standard
- Filters water over natural minerals for a crisp, refreshing taste
- Replaces previous 3-stage filter
The improved filters don’t filter water through stages anymore but instead the water comes in from all sides and slowly flows into the stage 1 area, trapping any large sediment that may get in.
There the water hits the Activated Charcoal which filters out many of the impurities and then it goes into the center of the filter. Stage 3 are Natural Minerals which which gives the water a crisp clean taste.
What Do The Customers Have To Say?
Recent reviews seem to be a little mixed. There are not many complaints as far as the filter is concerened it’s about the unit.
It seems that it’s very difficult to get a proper hosing for there filters. This is because each faucet is unique and has different flow strength. Some faucets are fast, some are slow.
This affects the plastic housing of the unit and the connectors.
Concluding Thoughts
Probably one of the best PUR models on the market, other than the PUR Advanced filter. It comes in black or white and costs the same price.
For such a low price this one is one of the best filters on the market with pretty good replacement filters. You do need to change the filters every 100 gallons – or about every 3 months.
Higher priced faucet filters will allow you to extened this up to 200 – 250 gallons but for this price it is very good. I am going to give the PUR FM-2000B Classic an 8.2/10.
